A BERLIN DIARY

Catching some sun in Berlin!

Last week I visited a friend in Berlin who is working there as an intern, like I am in Barcelona. I was so happy to be there for the second time, especially because now I was guided by a local and I could skip the more touristic part of the city. So let’s see talk about those three – very intense but awesome – days!

The first day I was my own guide because my friend was still working, it was a friday. So I decided to start the day with a coffee in Mitte, the central part of Berlin where you can find the Museuminsel or Museum island. On my to-do list was the Neues Museum, because I really wanted to see the building itself that is completely transformed by the architecture office of David Chipperfield. I honestly loved it!

On my way for lunch with my friend, I found a poster of a photography exhibition in the metro. So I knew my plans for the afternoon! But because the weather was so nice and the expo was located close to the Monkey bar, I decided to go for a drink at the rooftop first – heaven!

Later I went to the C/O to see the Irving Penn expo and I’m so happy I saw that poster down there in the metro. Besides architecture I really love photography and seeing these pictures makes me want to be a photographer as well. The expo runs until the first of july.

On the other hand we walked around in different neighbourhoods of Berlin to feel the different atmospheres and we really walked A LOT! On our way we took a picture in a famous photoautomat, a great souvenir. During sunset we had some drinks next to the Spree and enjoyed the lovely view.

On sunday we went for a little brunch, strolled around the sunny and lively Mauerpark where you can find a food- and fleamarket and we walked along the Berlin Wall Memorial. Last but not least we visited the Bauhausarchiv which was completely empty because it is planned to be renovated soon.

Such a nice weekend, passing by so fast. Can’t wait until my friend is coming to Barcelona, my turn to show her around.

Enjoy!
